Why Students Fail In Their CA Exam?

  • CA Satish Jalan

I'm here to offer some valuable insights that can help you excel in your CA exams. My primary objective is to assist you in achieving top scores in this prestigious program. Today, I'd like to discuss some key factors that often cause stress among CA aspirants.

It's common for every student to feel anxious while preparing for exams, and many of us are unaware of the strategies that can help to improve our performance. However, I believe that by taking the right approach, we can overcome these challenges and succeed in our conceptually complex yet feasible CA studies.

According to a recent report on CA toppers and their experiences, it was found that failure can actually make success even more satisfying. Many students who choose to pursue the professional course of CA tend to be high achievers in their school years. However, when they encounter failure for the very first time in the CA exams, they often become traumatized and can even fall into depression. This has become a common occurrence in recent times. But you always have to remember :

“The phoenix must burn to emerge.”

So, let's march together, in this profound journey of becoming one in thousands, of becoming a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Reasons Of Failure For Which Only You Are Responsible

Let's be transparent at this point, Some of you are genuinely stuck because of  family, job reasons, etc. Otherwise, many have the same story

(It will be hard to digest but it is the harsh reality)

It's simple, you are not doing the things that students who pass in one attempt do. You must be doing things like:

  • Wasting time in unnecessary conversation with people around you on scholastic or non-scholastic topics.

  • Creating study groups, where no one interacts but groups get created, so time is taken there and if anyone responds, the group admin is bound to respond first. They think that this is gonna help, team effort kind of, but the point is everyone there is on the same boat. No one knows the way out of this tunnel.

  • Still not accepting that there is also scope for improvement in oneself

  • Refusing to do what is required to do, by saying ‘Where is time to do this huge work! Who does that?’ (‘itna time kaha hai, itna kaun karega?’) Those who are determined to pass continuously try to find new things to learn.

  • Relying on shortcuts. You will need Imp questions, ABC, summaries, etc. when the concept is unclear. If you make your own notes and analysis it will be more beneficial for you than to get everything ready-made (Ye sab kisi ka Diya hua kabhi kam nahi karta. Khud se karna hota hai).
  • If you don't have deep knowledge, you won't be able to understand the question only. If you will understand you won't be able to create answers, if create then won't be able to elaborate on them. Because you need to actually deep dive. but you don't have time for this(But time nahi hain iske liye).

  • Relying too much on others. we listen to others more than we listen to ourselves. Every student has a different journey, if you ask them they will only tell you what worked for them and what didn't. But for you, doing similar things will be like a process of trial and error. You do not actually know what is right for you (jo Jo bole wahi sahi hai. har ek student ki journey diff hai, agar aap kisi se bhi puchoge to wo apna batayega jo uske liye work Kiya, lekin apke liye wo ek trial and error hoga, ye apko pata hi nahi, ki apke liye kya sahi hoga). Just like every patient can't be cured with the same medicine. Everybody is different, every mind is different too.

Agar aap sab commit karte hain to follow certain things,

I am committed to helping you.

I am surprised that even in the final exams you are asking to be spoon-fed. You are asking for daily schedules, and daily update inquiries, and don't know what else. Those who depend can never achieve the desired result. Because they do not have a focus of their own, how success will come in a situation like this (ki Final mein aapke demand spoon feeding ki hai, ki daily targets diye jaaye, har roz pucha Jaye tabhi aap padh padhenge... Jo ispe dependent hain, unka kabhi result nahi aya hai, Naa ayega.. kyuki Inka khud ka lakshya hi nahi hai.. Aise success ayega)?

You have to commit to yourself first.

I can create a schedule for you but you will have to follow it yourself

I can help you how to review your RTI papers, but you have to notice your mistake yourself

I can help you to create a type of summary note, but you have to do it for all chapters

I can help you with the process of written practice, but you have to practice yourself

I can counsel you, but you have to come forward that you need it

I can ask you, whether you have done it or not, but you have done the stuff that is reqd to do

I will be with you if you will be with me

How To Overcome This Failure?
